Myanmar
We were saddened by the lack of good books available for travel in Myanmar. Most of the information was outdated, monopolized by big-name guides such as the (still excellent) Lonely Planet. Other sites were lacking or piecemealed from travel sites. However, the information is out there. We embarked on a fun project of personal research, data mining, and of course, personal travel. What originally began as a project to gather notes before Myanmar has turned into a project where we sought counsel from over 100 travel blogs, travel agents, books, friends who had recently returned, forum posts, personal emails, and then our own personal experience, resulting in this awesome book to get you through Myanmar. It’s up to date as of summer 2012. It’s cross-linked, well-structured, and has nested tables to make navigation a breeze. Included are several maps and photos. Finally, it follows our traditional 6x6 format of keeping the major ideas down to six points so you are not overwhelmed.
As a forewarning though, the book is also a compilation – over 400+ pages worth, with several sections written by the editor. We do NOT claim credit for the majority of it. Which is why we cannot in good faith request more than a modest sum – the price of a cup of coffee – for it. This book is also intended for average tourists and backpackers, and for those intending to reach the major areas in Yangon, Bagan, Inle, and Mandalay. We stay away from the politics, the esoteric, and the luxury resorts. So thank us for the weeks it took us to edit, contribute to, structure, and convert this book to the kindle format – enjoy!
